The monthly Men’s Fellowship Breakfast at the Appleton City Church of God will be 7:00 a.m. Saturday March 12.  All the men of the community are invited to join them for a time of great food and fellowship.   Steve Elsey will have a short devotional. 

The Knights of Columbus will have their monthly pancake and sausage breakfast at the Knight’s Hall in Montrose on Sunday, March 13 from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m.  Treat your family to a hot breakfast you don’t have to cook or clean up.  A free will donation will be greatly appreciated

AC Landmarks will host a Baked Potato Bar Lunch 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. March 17 at the MK&T Railroad Depot. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, with a large baked potato, dessert and drink for lunch (carry outs only). The hot steamy potato will be served with toppings of chili, cheese, broccoli, bacon and sour cream.  Homemade cakes and drinks round out the meal for $7. Proceeds will be used for maintenance of Museum, Depot and old Library.

The ACHS Junior Class will have a drive through tenderloin sandwich 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. (or until they sell out) Sunday, March 20.  Pick up will be in the circle drive of the school.  They are offering a tenderloin sandwich and a bag of chips for $9.00. Proceeds will be used to sponsor the ACHS After Prom Activities.  In addition to the sandwiches, the class will also sponsor a Cornhole Tournament starting at 1:00 p.m. There will be a $40 entry fee per team. They would like teams to sign up by March 15 so they can have an idea on how many to expect.  They can call or text Bill Berry at 417-309-1855 to sign up. They will also be doing a 50/50 raffle

Immaculate Conception Church Lenten Fish Fry Dinners will be served March 18 and April 1 from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s School Hall, Montrose. They plan to serve carry out and dine-in at this time. (They will adjust as needed for the current conditions.) The menu is fried fish, Suzy Q’s, cole saw, corn bread, cookies and a drink. Adults eat for $12, children under 10 for $6

Come out and support the AC Track Project on Saturday, April 16 with a night of Mouse Racing, Mouse Roulette, some amazing auction items, and a gun raffle. A ticket is required to enter this fun event and only 300 tickets will be sold. Your ticket includes entry into the event, dinner and two drinks for only $25. Because Appleton City High School co-ops with Montrose High School for track, the event is being held at the Montrose Community Building. Tickets are available at Powell’s True Value Hardware and from various community members, including: Brittanni Turner, Tricia Swaters, Jana Wareham, Amber Strope, Ashley Deel, Brooke Powell and Cindy Beebe. Check the AC Athletic Boosters, Inc. Facebook page for more details, including how to name a mouse or a race. The Field of Pride & Track Project is in the final stretch of fundraising and funding for the track is over 60% completed prior to this event.

Grace Christian Academy will have their 2nd annual hog roast dinner with silent and live auctions fundraiser Saturday, March 12 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the Lowry City Civic Center, 4th & Cleveland in Lowry City.  The hog roast dinner for $10 includes meat, sides, dessert and drink. Children 4-12 years eat for $6, 3 and under are free.  Carry out is available.  Silent auction from 4:00 – 6:30 and live auction starts at 7:00 p.m.

The Carousel that will be installed on Main Street came to AC with the Fair Carnival in 2009-2019. They are looking for pictures of children on that carousel during that time frame. Call 660-476-5857 9:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. or email acmolampkin@yahoo.com

The AC Spring City Wide Garage Sale dates have been set for April 29 and 30. Details will be posted at a later date.

DbarJ Quilts etc. of Rockville, Mo will have the Elva Gwinn Huffman Essay Contest once again this year.  To receive a quilt to use in your charitable fund raising, all you have to do is enter an essay telling about your non-profit, its name, who you serve, how you would use the quilt in this endeavor and any other important information you would like them to know. The ACHS Alumni Meeting and luncheon will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11:30. It will be a sack lunch for $11 per person. Reservations deadline is May 14. Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday, March 13.  Set your clocks forward one hour. Fire Departments also recommend that it is a good time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.
