Second Saturdays in AC will be May 14 starting at 5:00 p.m. The event on Main Street will feature vendors, food, beverages and entertainment.

Ellett Memorial Hospital and AC Rural Health Clinic are having a Community Appreciation Day Wednesday, May 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Free pulled pork sandwiches, chips and a water can be picked up curbside at the front doors of the hospital.  Everyone welcome!

The monthly Men’s Fellowship Breakfast at the Appleton City Church of God will be 7:00 a.m. Saturday May 14.  All the men of the community are invited to join them for a time of great food and fellowship.  Alan Black will have a short devotional. 

The ACHS Alumni Meeting and luncheon will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11:30. It will be a sack lunch for $12 per person. Reservations deadline is May 14. AC PTO is collecting Food Fair receipts and Best Choice UPC labels May 11.  Food Fair receipts need to be from January 1 – April 30, 2022.  Please drop them off in the Elementary School Office, St. Clair County State Bank with Janet Payton or Little Apples Learning Center by Friday, May 11.

In order for the people in this area to meet with each other and establish a social club, “The Appleton City Over 50 Social Club” will meet at noon Wednesday, May 18 the Social Hall of United Trinity Methodist Church at 214 E. 3rd St. An organizational meeting will follow with a focus on promoting community, friendship and outside activities. Volunteers are needed for the Yellow Rose Day at the Appleton City Cemetery. After numerous years of service founder, Dean Ellis, is passing the torch of the Yellow Rose Day to the residents of the Appleton City area so your support is needed in placing the over 2000 yellow silk rosebuds on the oldest graves in the Appleton City Cemetery in time for Memorial Day.  Roses will be placed on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 9:00 a.m., with a rain date of Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.  All individuals, families, clubs or groups are welcome.  For information contact: Kathy Gengler, 660-492-7065, Pam Bartz, 417-321-4177, Donald Yoss, 660-492-7218 or City Hall, 476-2631.

Hudson R-IX Elementary will hold their annual kindergarten screening on Monday, May 16.  Please call the school at (660) 476-5467 to set up an appointment.  You will need your child’s social security card, birth certificate, and current immunization record.  If you call and the school office is closed, please leave a message and they will get back to you.

The Appleton City Public Library will be open for the upcoming Second Saturday. Along with books, they will be selling plants to raise money for the library. Donations are more than welcome. If you would like to find out the specific plans for the money raised, stop in the library during normal business hours. They are also conducting their Friends of the Best Sellers Program until May 19, 2022. The program’s purpose is to fund the purchase of new hardback books for the library. You can become a friend by either choosing a book from the list or requesting another book you’ve wanted to read and then donating $20.00 for said book. The perks of being a Friend to the library are that you will be the first person to check the book out, and you will be honored by having your name placed on a special nameplate in the front of each of the Library Friend books. Library hours are Mondays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. to noon.

The Appleton City Class of ’82 will be celebrating their 40th reunion at noon June 4, 2022, at the Chris Green home, 1464 SE County Road 15305, Appleton City.  Bring a side to share at lunch. Meat, tableware and water will be provided.

ACHS Alumni are invited to the Rockville Bar May 27 from 9:00 p.m. to midnight to hear Overload Band, featuring Mike Longhofer, Kelly Neiman, Aaron Neiman and Larry Swisher.
