Swimming Lessons will be Monday June 27 through Friday July 1 at the AC Pool. Beginner class will be 5:00-5:45 p.m. The child must be able to touch the bottom at 3 feet without assistance. Intermediate class will be 6:00-6:45 p.m. The Lion’s Club of Rockville have donated to help with the cost of classes, so the lessons will be discounted to $15 for 1 individual. If you are signing up multiple children, it will be an additional $10 per child.
You can sign up by calling the pool or messaging their Facebook page during regular business hours, 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. They will need to know the student’s full name and which class you want them enrolled in.
The Appleton City FBLA chapter will have a Pulled Pork Dinner fundraiser on Saturday, June 25 in the high school commons from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The meal will include pulled pork, baked potato, baked beans, dessert, and a drink. Carryout options will be available as well. The cost will be $12.00. There will also be a 50/50 drawing. The winner will be announced at 8:00 p.m. You need not be present to win. Donations are appreciated. This is to help with the expenses of the National FBLA contest in Chicago they will be attending from June 28 to July 3. They are very proud of the student’s success at the State FBLA contest and wish them success at the National FBLA contest. They thank the community for their support throughout the year and for their continued support as they embark on their journey to the National Contest. The Ellett Memorial Foundation Board is raffling off a Stihl RE 110 Plus Electric Pressure Washer. The drawing will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Appleton City Car Show. Free private tennis lessons are offered to all current or former players and anyone who want to improve their technique or strategies or first time players. People of almost any age and skills can learn to play tennis. Lessons are held at the tennis courts at Donnohue-Dugan Park. Rackets and balls will be provided. A sheep and goat parasite management workshop will be held June 27 in Mount Vernon, Mo. Preregistration is required by June 23. Cost of the workshop is $25 per person, which includes a meal that will be served during the workshop. There will be a benefit chicken dinner Friday, June 24 from 4:00-7:30 p.m. at the Fair Haven Park (on HWY C, 8 miles north of Walker, MO) to benefit Stoney Creek, Fair Haven and Walnut Creek Schools. The menu is all you can eat fried or BBQ grilled chicken, chicken & noodles, beans cole slaw, homemade bread and butter with freshly cranked ice cream and homemade pies for dessert. Care Connection for Aging Services is expanding its family caregiving program with the addition of a Care Manager to specialize in these services. Tammy Wilkey, of Edwards, recently assumed the role of Family Caregiver Coordinator for the southern part of the Care Connection area. She will serve Bates, Benton, Cedar, Henry, Hickory, St. Clair, and Vernon counties, focusing on the needs of caregivers. Wilkey will serve as the first contact for people who need support in caring for their parents, spouses, friends, grandchildren, or other relatives in those seven counties. She will assess which services and information will help each caregiver – educational materials, support groups, or both. From her headquarters at the Warsaw Senior Center, she also will lead the agency’s Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program throughout Care Connection’s 13 counties.
