Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to 12201 E 233rd Street, rural Peculiar, in regards to a domestic disturbance with shots fired. Upon arrival, it was determined that one person was shot multiple times and one person was deceased. The individual shot multiple times was transported to an area hospital and is in serious condition.
UPDATE: Investigators believe that Stuart F. Hampton, 34, Peculiar went to the residence on E. 233rd Street and fired numerous rounds into the house striking his cousin, John J. Still, 42, Peculiar.
Mr. Still was transported to an area hospital in serious condition and is currently hospitalized. Mr. Hampton was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.
The investigation is ongoing.
